Monica and Branden are Married!

I was recommended to Monica and Branden through a mutual friend and “coworker,” Sam. Sam knew Monica from church and she chose him to DJ at her wedding. I knew him because he was the DJ at my own wedding and we have remained friends since. This time though, we were “co-workers” and I am so glad it turned out that way!

Monica and Branden are both very genuine, sweet, Christian people. It made my heart happy to be a part of their special day. Monica seems to have a need to be organized and in control and it totally payed off! Her wedding was beautiful. Bright coral and green were a stunning color combination. She wisely chose a day that was bright, breezy, and wrapped you in a summery-spring vacation kind of feeling. It was the perfect backdrop to her light and airy, beachy themed wedding. So congrats to Monica and Branden! Wishing you a marriage inn which every day is as beautiful as your wedding day!

Bluebonnet Session

I was so excited last year when my friend Amy told me about a really awesome Bluebonnet location. I’m from the Hill Country, my mom still lives there, so I had never really hoped of seeing fields of Bluebonnets down here in Houston.

This year Amy and I loaded up the kids one evening and drove out to her super secret spot and it was so worth the trip. It was a beautiful location, a wildflower gem! We had such a great afternoon with the kids, they had a lot of fun too. So thanks Amy, I hope you enjoy these!

Cameron and Megan are Engaged!

A couple of weeks ago my cousin Cameron called me and told me he was finally going to pop the question to his girlfriend. He explained to me his whole elaborate plan and asked me if I would come take pictures for them. Cameron is a senior at Texas A&M which translates to 4 years chock full of traditions.  His plan was to propose to Megan under the Century Tree on campus. Tradition says that if you propose under this tree, that is well over 100 years old, your marriage will last forever.  After he laid out every detail I could see this plan was indeed perfect. See for yourself, my explanation does not do justice…

Congrats Megan and Cameron. Megan, you are a welcome addition to our family!

Megan starts to realize whats about to happen…

He waits on horseback as she goes to him.

He pops the question.

A happy moment

Congrats Cameron and Megan!!

The Johnson Family

I met Wendy in my mom’s group and she hired me to take pictures for her family last year about this time.  She is such a kind person, always complimentary and sweet. Since the session last year we have worked together a few more times. This year, pretty early, she started telling me she wanted to do another family session. As a matter of fact her oldest son and her husband were asking her when they were going to do it again because they had so much fun last time. What a terrific compliment! I know how most husbands are about having pictures taken (mine included) so it was really nice that the memories they made during are session are fun ones.  This time, Wendy agreed to make a 40 min drive to try out a new location. Throughout the week we had discussions about wardrobe and we were both excited about the session.  When Wendy’s family arrived they all hopped out with t-shirts on and Wendy, with a big smile said, “I forgot all our shirts at home.” I offered to push back the session but she insisted (I don’t blame her, getting 3 kids out of the house and arriving early is hard enough to do once, but to have to do it again) it would be fine and its just part of the story they will have now. Plus its her family as they truly are. I told her she is the only mom I knew who would handle it that well. She laughed and we got started. Thanks Wendy, for being a trooper! Hope you guys had as much fun this year…

They really do have fun together don’t they!

OK this next photo was totally Dad’s idea but, I loved it. And I love the way it came out. I think the boys thought it was pretty cool, and dad? He was cracking up the whole time!

Alma’s Wedding

I was so honored when my friend of 8 years asked me to be the Matron of Honor in her wedding.  In the time we’ve known each other we worked together, traveled together laughed and cried together.  She was a member of the bridal party in my own wedding and made my day unforgettable for me.  I knew I had to do the same for her.  In talking further she asked me to shoot her bridal portraits but also, do what I could to also be a photographer for her wedding. I know of one other person who’s done this but I just wasn’t sure how it was going to work out.  As it turns out, I was able to juggle a little of both.  I am trying to only pick out a few favorites but this was a weekend long event for me  plus the weekend in San Antonio for bridal portraits, so there is just so much to share. Alma, I am so glad you included me in your wedding.  I hope you will look back at these memories and treasure them forever. Congrats!

Raffle Winner!

If you remember I had a raffle this summer for a free photo session.  The lucky winner was Erica Stidham, author of the children’s book Those Silly Sisters- Swimming in the Rain.

Erica and I met in my daughter’s dance class earlier this year.  We hit it off right away and I was so glad she was the raffle winner.  Just this weekend we completed her session, I have to say her book was perfectly named because I experienced “those silly sisters” first hand throughout the shoot, it truly made for the best pictures.  Stidham family, you were a pleasure to spend the evening with and I hope you cherish these memories for a long time to come!

Happy Birthday Eli!

Today, my baby boy turns 1! Like all moms I can’t hardly believe my infant is now a toddler.  Although, come to think of it, with all the toddling around and clearing of every flat surface within reach, I guess it should come as a little less of a shock.  Regardless, the time is here and just next weekend we will be celebrating with a “Very Hungry Caterpillar” themed party. Until then, here are a few pictures from his official first birthday session.
